«GACETA DE MÉXICO» no gestiona foros propios.

Scope of this legal notice
This notice identifies the entities involved in operating “GACETA DE MÉXICO” and explains the legal and editorial principles governing its activities. The application of Mexican law depends on the activity, its effects, the persons involved, and the relevant jurisdictional and choice-of-law rules. An entity or technical provider being located outside Mexico does not, by itself, exclude Mexican obligations that otherwise apply.

Mexican legal framework
Relevant legislation includes, within its respective scope, the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States; federal legislation governing the right of reply, copyright, consumer protection and personal data held by private parties; the General Law on the Rights of Children and Adolescents; and the relevant civil, criminal and procedural provisions. State legislation applies where its territorial and substantive requirements are met. For personal data, the applicable federal framework includes the law enacted on 20 March 2025, as amended. The former 1917 Law on Press Offences was repealed by a decree published on 25 April 2023 and is not presented as current legislation.

Historical background and the present publication
The historical title “GACETA DE MÉXICO” is associated with the publication founded by Juan Ignacio María de Castorena Ursúa y Goyeneche, who subsequently became Bishop of Yucatán. Its first appearance dates to 1 January 1722, making 2026 the 304th anniversary of that first issue. It occupies an important place in the development of the Mexican and Spanish American periodical press. The present digital publication of “GACETA DE MÉXICO” draws on this historical newspaper title. The original publication date does not imply uninterrupted publishing activity or legal identity with the former publication. The current edition provides news about Mexico, Latin America and the wider world. Its coverage includes politics, economics, financial markets, sport, motoring, culture, technology, the environment, society and other current affairs.

Editorial profile
“GACETA DE MÉXICO” is a publication with a liberal-conservative orientation whose editorial direction is determined by its publishers. Independent journalists and contributors also participate in its various sections. The publication covers domestic and international affairs, civil rights, civic participation, democracy and matters of public interest.

Journalistic working principles
Editorial work is guided by fact-checking, source attribution, appropriate context, and a distinction between news, analysis, opinion and commercial messages. Reports are assessed against the information available when they are published. Verified errors will be corrected in a manner appropriate to their significance and reach. Signed opinions are attributed to their authors. Such attribution does not remove any legal responsibilities of the publisher arising from the selection, presentation or publication of the material.

Freedom of expression and freedom of the press
Articles 6 and 7 of the Mexican Constitution protect expression, information and its dissemination through any medium, and prohibit prior censorship under the constitutional framework. “GACETA DE MÉXICO” performs its reporting function with respect for the rights of others, private life and other constitutionally permissible limitations. Freedom of the press encompasses investigation, criticism and debate on matters of public interest.

Case law on freedom of expression and protection of reputation
Mexico’s Supreme Court of Justice developed the dual-protection framework in binding precedent 1a./J. 38/2013 (10a.), digital registration number 2003303. This framework recognises differences in the protection of reputation according to a person’s public prominence and the public interest in the subject matter. Public-figure status does not remove protection for private life. Binding precedent 1a./J. 80/2019 (10a.), digital registration number 2020798, explains that, where the actual-malice standard applies, falsity alone is insufficient: knowledge of falsity or reckless disregard for truth must be established. These principles apply according to the circumstances of the case and do not create a general exemption from liability.

Reputation, privacy and the presumption of innocence
The newsroom distinguishes established facts from allegations, suspicions and value judgments. An investigation or accusation will not be presented as a final conviction. Decisions to publish personal information, images or recordings must consider their relevance to the reporting and the rights of the individuals concerned. A person’s prominence does not make every aspect of their life a matter of public interest.

Corrections and the right of reply
Requests may be sent to [email protected]. Article 10 of the federal Right of Reply Law generally allows fifteen working days from the day after publication to submit a request. Its identification, signature, supporting-document and content requirements must be met. A qualifying reply is published free of charge; decisions, notifications and publication follow the statutory deadlines. Reports of errors are also accepted for editorial review.

Case law on the right of reply
In constitutional challenge 122/2015 and joined cases 124/2015 and 125/2015, decided on 1 February 2018, the Supreme Court examined the right-of-reply legislation, recognised submission by physical or electronic means, and invalidated the former five-working-day deadline. The current legislation establishes the fifteen-working-day period stated above.

Protection of sources and journalistic materials
“GACETA DE MÉXICO” protects the confidentiality of its sources and confidential editorial materials in accordance with applicable law. In Mexico City, the Law on Professional Secrecy and the Conscience Clause for Journalistic Practice protects source identities and certain investigative materials. Its territorial scope and the relevant procedural safeguards must be respected when responding to requests from authorities or third parties.

Responsibility for published content
SCANDIC TRUST GROUP LLC bears the responsibilities imposed by law on its editorial activities. A report, photograph or video originating from an agency, contributor or other third party does not automatically remove responsibility for publishing it. Identifying a source is neither a guarantee of accuracy nor a substitute for the required editorial diligence. News reports and archives reflect the circumstances at the time of publication. Updates, corrections or clarifications will be added where appropriate, with the aim of enabling readers to distinguish the original reporting from material changes.

Notices of possible infringements
Anyone who believes that content infringes their rights may notify [email protected], identifying its location, the disputed facts, the right affected and relevant supporting documents. The newsroom will examine sufficiently specific notices and take appropriate action, respecting the parties’ rights and preserving evidence where necessary. Prior contact with the publication is not imposed as a general condition for obtaining legal assistance, approaching an authority or bringing legal proceedings. Entitlement to expenses, legal costs or compensation will be determined under the applicable rules and, where relevant, by the competent authority.

External links and services
External links enable readers to consult information and services provided by third parties. Their inclusion does not mean that “GACETA DE MÉXICO” adopts all of their content or controls subsequent changes. Responsibility for a link or integration will be assessed according to the publication’s actual involvement and applicable law. Specific notices concerning unlawful content will be examined and may result in removal of the link or other appropriate measures.

Forums and user contributions
“GACETA DE MÉXICO” does not operate its own forums. Interactions on external platforms are also subject to their respective operators’ conditions. If comments or other participation features are introduced on the website, their use and moderation rules will be explained. Responsibility for user material will depend on the function actually performed and the applicable law.

Advertising and editorial independence
Advertisements, sponsored content and commercial collaborations will be identified so that they can be distinguished from journalistic reporting. Advertising must comply with the truthfulness and substantiation requirements of Article 32 of the Federal Consumer Protection Law. Purchasing advertising does not give an advertiser the right to direct news coverage or prevent legitimate criticism.

Contracting and consumer protection
Where services are offered to consumers covered by Mexican law, the provider’s identity and contact details, service characteristics, total price and relevant conditions will be supplied before contracting. The obligations under Article 76 Bis of the Federal Consumer Protection Law and consumers’ mandatory rights will be respected. Complaints may be brought before the Federal Consumer Protection Agency — PROFECO, within its statutory powers.

Our data are also protected at Iron Mountain Incorporated. All data associated with the “LGdM” domains are replicated around the clock, seven days a week, and backed up simultaneously so that full availability can be restored promptly, for example following an attack on the domains.

Distribution of business communications
Distribution services for business news and press releases are provided within the scope of the agreed assignment and the conditions of the distribution channels used. Distribution does not guarantee publication by third parties, acceptance as regulated securities-market information, or approval by a stock exchange or financial authority. Commercial material will be identified according to its nature.

Personal data protection
Processing covered by Mexican data protection legislation is governed by the Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties. Rights of access, rectification, cancellation and objection — ARCO rights — may be exercised through [email protected], subject to statutory requirements. Specific information on purposes, recipients, transfers and procedures should be consulted in the relevant privacy notice. This legal notice does not replace it.

Data protection authority
The Secretaría Anticorrupción y Buen Gobierno, through its competent units, exercises the relevant federal powers concerning personal data held by private parties. Submitting a request to the publication does not prevent individuals from using rights-protection procedures or reporting infringements to the competent authority.

Security and technical providers
Technical operations incorporate hosting, backup and system-protection services, including the identified services of ASPECTRA / CONVOTIS Schweiz AG, Iron Mountain and Darktrace. Each provider’s role depends on the services contracted. Security measures aim to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information; their use does not provide an absolute guarantee against incidents. The involvement of technical providers does not, by itself, authorise every form of processing or international data transfer. Confidentiality, security and processing-on-behalf obligations must comply with the rules applicable to each operation.

Copyright and use of content
Original texts, photographs, videos and other creative works are protected under the Federal Copyright Law. The factual information contained in news is itself excluded from that protection, unlike its original expression. Reserved uses require permission from the relevant rights holder. Quotations and other limitations under Article 148 remain available subject to their statutory conditions. Identifying the source does not replace permission where permission is required.

Materials submitted to the newsroom
